Key Injuries Week 4

We have a few injuries to discuss for Week 4. Delhomme is out with a elbow injury which they are saying is day to day. David Carr will start in his place Sunday. J.P. Losman out for up to a month with a knee injury. Trent Edwards will start for Losman Sunday against the Jets. Tavaris Jackson for Minnesota is out again this week Kelly Holcomb will be the starter against the Packers. Not an injury but Chicago has finally benched quarterback Grossman and starting Brian Griese against Detriot. This has been long awaited since Grossman has just been horrible in the first three weeks of o7'. Also McCown is out this week for the Raiders. Culpepper will get his first start of the season.

Key Matchups

We have a full slate of games to look forward to week 4. The first game that sticks out is the Bucs vs. the Panthers for first place in the NFC South. David Car gets the nod this week after Delhomme has missed practice all this week with an injured elbow. Carr coming from Houston never really had a chance to prove what he is capable of if put on a contending team like the Panthers are. He will have something to prove going against a Tampa Bay defense thats always bringing the heat. Jeff Garcia has been a blessing in disguise for Tampa bringing them to a 2-1 record. No one had Tampa even contending for the South this year but with New Orleans struggling and a Vickless Atlanta team, the Bucs have a good chance of taking the South. Another matchup on Monday night football is Cincy vs. the Patriots. Randy Moss has stepped his game up since arriving in New England for a bid for MVP. Tom Brady is doing what he does best and maintain his leadership role on the field. Patriots are the favorite in the AFC and have showed no signs of changing that. On the other hand the Bengals have had an up and down season so far coming in at 1-2. The lost a shootout in Cleveland and Seattle squeaked by last Sunday winning by three. Chad Johnson has had a good year but the record doesn't show that. I think this will still be a good game. Cincy will bring it to the Patriots this is their second Monday night game this year. Very interesting week ahead of us. Enjoy, I know I will.

Week 3 Recap Colts Texans

With another week behind us we have another sad story to lead off with. Sunday's key matchup was the Colts vs. Texans. This was for first place in the AFC South. Cedric Killings sustained a serious neck injury similar to Everett's injury week one. Doctors say he does have movement with all his extremities which is great news. More than likely he will be out for the season. He was just one of the key injuries Houston got Sunday. Ahmed Green went down with a knee injury, Jacobi Jones left with a separated shoulder and Andre Johnson was already out for the week. Jones could miss 2-3 weeks with his injury which doesn't bid well for the Texans. The Colts on the other hand did very well Sunday. Their defense shut Houston to only 40 yards rushing. Remember last year the were last in rush defense a much different story this year. Manning completed passes to 6 different receivers for over 200 yards. Overall this was the most entertaining game this week. If Schaub doesn't throw the late interception to Gary Brackett, Houston might have had a chance to pull an upset.

Kevin Everett

Kevin Everett is on his way to Houston today. Doctors are reporting that he could walk within weeks instead of months or years. This is after just two weeks ago they thought he would never walk again. If this isn't a miracle I don't know what is. When Everett went for that hit the first Sunday, instantly you can tell something was wrong. I had to turn away from the TV when I saw it. This is really good news to hear among all the bad we have been hearing in the world of sports. This is a light at the end of the tunnel for Everett. Let's hope everything works out for him and he has a normal life.

Mcnabb Calling out!!

Mcnabb made some interesting comments on Real Sports with James Brown earlier this week. He basically claimed that black QBs face more pressure to perform than white QBs. His comments have sent shock waves through the football community. Jason Campbell and Vince Young have already responded to his comments on Wednesday. Jason Campbell said he felt the same during college but not in the NFL. Vince Young was the most outspoken of the two saying that if you can't handle the pressure it takes to be a QB then you should get out. The problem I have with this is that both Vince and Jason haven't been in the league long enough to have an opinion about the pressures involved being a African-American QB. Mcnabb has been in the league for going on 9 seasons now. He's has taken the Eagles to a super bowl which they haven't reached in years. He's taken them to multiple NFC Championships only to get ripped by the horrible fans in Philly that boo even Mike Schmidt the greatest third baseman of all-time and even Santa Claus. I commend Mcnabb for being truthful in his opinions and feelings. Race is still an issue in the real world, whats to say it's not happening in NFL. 32 teams and only 6 black QBs? 32 teams and only 2 black GMs? 32 teams and only 6 black coaches which 3 are in the same division! Numbers don't lie, it needs to change but we are moving in the right direction. The fact is race plays a part in everyday life including a persons place of work. Mcnair wasn't allowed to workout at the Titans facility during last years offseason because they didn't want him anymore yet Trent Green gets to workout with the Chiefs even though they knew the were going to trade him too. Would this happen to a Jay Cutler or a Manning? I think not!

Top News for week 2

Did anyone catch the games over this weekend? Week two was very interesting to say the least. The Bengals scored 45 points Sunday and lost to the Browns. That's right I said the Browns. Derek Anderson had the game of his life throwing for five touchdowns and only one interception. Was this a case of the Browns getting better or just that Cincinnati is really that bad? I think it's that defense is just horrible. Over the past three season the Bengals were in the top five when it comes to takeaways but they always give up big plays which hurts them in the long run. If the Bengals want to have any chance of making the playoffs, they better fix that defense quick. Chad Johnson also jumped into the dawg pound in celebration of his 2nd touchdown. Is he crazy? It was entertaining though I do have to give him that. The Houston Texans walked all over Carolina Sunday scoring 34 unanswered points throughout the game. Matt Schaub had a great game throwing for two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also had the highest QB rating of 119.2 in team history. The Texans are looking like they could be the dark horse in the AFC playoffs. Surprisingly we have quite a few teams that are 2-0 at the beginning of this season. No one had both Houston and Detroit starting this well. You also have San Fransisco and Green bay both at 2-0. On the short end of the stick you have the Giants and Eagles at 0-2 in their first two games. It is early in the season but it's definitely time for the Giants to panic. Their defense has given up 70 points in two games. The offense is very inconsistent and the don't have Brandon Jacobs back in the lineup. Tom Coughlin is on the hot seat even though he probably should have been fired last year. The teams better turn things around soon. The NFL you can't give up too many games before it's too late.

NFL Tight Ends Fantasy Football

According to last year, the tight end position was supposed be on the rise this year. That's certainly not the case. With the except of Jason Witten and Antonio Gates, no other tight end in the whole league really gave the fantasy world anything to be proud about. Experts were saying that the a lot of the teams would use more athletic tight ends to get more receiving yards. Well as you can tell by week one's events, that certainly not the case. One guy to keep your eye on though is Heath Miller. He is the starting tight end for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Compared to last years smash mouth, run run run offense they had, this year they promised to throw it down the field more often. Which they showed off against the Browns, Roethlisberger threw for 4 TD's all over the field. This looks very promising for Heath Miller this year. We will have to wait and see.

Week One Summary Fantasy Football

Welcome to the world of fantasy football. With week one wrapped up, some very interesting things happened over the weekend. A few of normally big hitters fizzled out fairly quickly. For example, who would have thought that Maurice Jones-Drew would end up with little to no points only running for 32 yards and losing a fumble. Not to go unnoticed Phillip Rivers ending up without a TD pass. LaDanian Tomlinson even had a better QB rating than he did with one throw. Rivers is projected to be a top five fantasy quarterback this year. But some good came out of week one as well. Tony Romo, Plaxico Burress, and Jake Delhomme all had an outstanding week one. Romo threw for 345 yards with 3 TD's and only one interception. This was against a mediocre Giants defense but still promising. Burress had an amazing start with 3 TD's meanwhile Delhomme threw for 3 of his own. Delhomme isn't a household name when it comes to fantasy but this just proves that every dog must have his day. The two top dogs came through like they always do. Peyton Manning and LaDanian Tomlinson proved why they are the best players in fantasy. Even on week one they dominate our world of fantasy. You must be on your toes this year. It proves to be a very interesting year and definitely will be full of surprises.
